Hi, I’m Al Donnelly aka houdi, an amateur photographer based in Inverness, nestled in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland.
Photography has been a growing passion of mine for several years now, offering a creative outlet and a way to capture the energy and emotion of the world around me. I’m particularly drawn to music photography — the moments on stage when an artist loses themselves in the sound or the quiet intensity before the first chord is struck. Oh, and never, ever forget the drummer.
Living in Inverness, I’m blessed to be part of a vibrant and ever-evolving music scene. Through this, I’ve had the opportunity to photograph a multitude of bands and artists, both local heroes and touring acts, capturing the raw, unfiltered spirit of live music.
One of the most exciting parts of my journey has been working with Netsounds, a music platform that supports and showcases emerging artists. Being part of Team Netsounds has allowed me to get up close to some truly special performances — not just at gigs and festivals, but also in more intimate settings like acoustic sessions and behind-the-scenes moments. It’s been a privilege to document those experiences with my lens. Ok – lenses. More than I need for sure but, yet, still never enough.

Beyond the music world, I will literally photograph anything. I shoot purely for the love of it — to keep learning, improving, and staying connected to the creative community around me. I believe photography is not just about the technical side, but about storytelling, emotion, and perspective. If it moves shoot it, if it doesn’t shoot it anyway.
Whether it’s the glare of stage lights, a stormy evening on a beach or the shadows of a city, I’m always chasing the right frame — that fleeting second where everything lines up. The moment that nobody else caught. This site is my way of sharing some of those moments.
